This session will consider professional education in India. We need to be at par with the global education standards which offer employability opportunities. The large youth population is a demographic advantage and can become a powerful engine of economic growth and development. The higher education system has become redundant and does not guarantee employment with degrees becoming more important than vocational skills.
While a handful of institutions in the country have managed to maintain world-class education standards, a vast majority of our professional education institutes struggle to keep up with the latest advancements. The outcome is a largely unemployable youth population and the growing mismatch between industry needs and degree qualifications. This session argues that investment in professional education can help solve some of these issues and could enable the youth to bridge that gap between industry expectations and their academic qualifications. The intent is also to encourage the educationists to suggest reforms that could help fix the professional education landscape in India and inspire our youth towards professional education.
